Born and raised in Suffolk, Virginia, I’ve been a lifelong attendee of the Suffolk Peanut Fest. My parents made it a tradition to attend every year, and we always tried to squeeze in all four days of festival fun. During high school, I volunteered through local church organizations serving sodas at Shrimp Feast and had the honor of representing the festival as one of Lakeland High Schools Peanut Princesses during my senior year.
More than 15 years ago, I joined the festival’s Executive Committee and have been supporting the Arts and Crafts vendors ever since! Through the years, one of our favorite traditions has been meeting every Thursday night of the festival for Family Dinner - where my mom gives everyone $20 to spend however we wish. Some buy crab cakes or Cajun combo meals, while others choose to eat less expensive and use their money on games and other fest activities! These simple traditions have created memories that will last us a lifetime. The Suffolk Peanut Fest has always been more than an event to me. It’s a celebration of community, family, and the generations of memories we create together. I am honored, and humbled, to serve as the 2026 Chairman, and I hope you have your own special Peanut Fest memories to share as we celebrate another wonderful year together. See you at the Fest! - Kate |
